Emergency EXIT – a multidisciplinary performance that combines music, theater, and multimedia to explore themes of humanity’s connection with nature, coexistence, and transformation – will premiere on July 10 at the opening of this year’s EXIT Festival.

This event marks the first performance of its kind in Europe and was created as part of a project of the same name, as a collaboration between the Spanish theater troupe La Fura dels Baus, renowned for their spectacular large-format shows, and the EXIT Festival.

According to the La Fura team, Emergency EXIT is not a concert, nor a theatrical play, not a visual spectacle, a dance, or an installation. It is something else, a new format that merges sound, movement, image, and raw human energy to create a unique experience that is not just watched, but lived. This large-scale performance transcends genre and stage boundaries, drawing the audience into a space of tension and transformation. A world in collapse. The opening of a portal. A raw journey through chaos, resistance, and the beauty of collective awakening. There is no fourth wall. No safe distance. There is only one way forward: Emergency EXIT.

“Although La Fura has already worked on similar projects in concert formats, the new environment and scale of the EXIT Festival pose both a challenge and an opportunity to create something truly unforgettable. Known for pushing the boundaries of art, La Fura brings its unique blend of visual storytelling, immersive set design, and theatrical innovation to the heart of a music festival. At the core of La Fura’s philosophy lies cultural exchange and collaboration, and this project includes 20 local and regional artists who will play a key role in shaping the performance. Working with local participants is one of the most important aspects of this project for us,” said Pera Tantiñá, director of La Fura dels Baus.

Satori will also provide a key dimension to the performance, having composed the music, alongside video artists from Eyesberg, who are shaping the visual elements of this immersive experience.

“It’s truly inspiring to work on such a wonderful project with La Fura and EXIT. It’s an honor to have had the opportunity to compose music for such an important performance. I can’t wait to perform it live,” said Satori.

“Emergency EXIT is a collective meditation on humanity’s journey across Earth, a planet that is as beautiful as it is devastated by our actions. Using environmentally responsible, open-source artificial intelligence, we’ve captured the essence of nature. This content will come alive in an audiovisual performance that will blend in real time with footage from cameras worn by the performers, merging art, technology, and performance,” said José Vaaliña, director and visual artist at Eyesberg.

This performance is also a call to everyone – visitors, performers, festival staff, sponsors, and volunteers – to join in signing the Manifesto to Save the Planet, which will evolve throughout the Emergency EXIT project, supported by the European Union through the Creative Europe program.

Following its world premiere at the EXIT Festival, Emergency EXIT will take the stage at one of Europe’s leading festivals, Boom Festival in Portugal, on July 17, before continuing its journey next year with performances at Sea Star Festival in Umag and in Barcelona.

Emergency EXIT

Emergency EXIT is an ambitious and unique international cooperation project that brings together leading cultural organisations, festivals, and sustainability experts to champion environmental responsibility through the power of the arts.

Led by EXIT Foundation (Serbia), in partnership with La Fura dels Baus (Spain), Green Events (Netherlands), Sea Star Festival (Croatia), and Boom Festival (Portugal), the project unites diverse creative forces in a joint mission to inspire action for the planet. Supported by the Creative Europe programme, Emergency EXIT blends artistic innovation with environmental advocacy to explore how festivals and large-scale cultural events can lead the transition toward more sustainable practices.

Through co-created performances, workshops, and public engagement, the project fosters collaboration between artists, producers, and audiences. At its heart lies a shared message—“Peace on Earth, Peace with Earth”—delivered not only through art, but through real change in how events are designed, produced, and experienced.

Emergency EXIT will develop and tour a unique interdisciplinary production across key European festivals, while also promoting the Manifesto for the Salvation of the Planet, an evolving pledge inviting all cultural actors to commit to sustainability. At the same time, the project will be presented at forums such as ADE Green, amplifying its impact across the creative industries.

More than a project, Emergency EXIT is a platform for cooperation, exchange, and transformation — inviting all artists and festivals on this planet, and each of you, wherever you are, to join this mission for a more conscious future!
